This Minecraft tutorial explains how the coordinate system (XYZ) works as well as how to find your coordinates in Minecraft with screenshots and step-by-step instructions.
How the Coordinate System Works
Hi MatildeRizzi, your problem seems it's a know Issue on the Minecraft Community. Some users seem to have solved that using one of this tricks. On the top row of the keyboard, after F12, is a special key labeled Fmode. I pressed it once. If option 1 doesn't work remember to do ctrl f3 or it won't work. (BTW the mac I am using has a Intel Core 2 Duo (2.8 Ghz)) The game control to open the chat window depends on the version of Minecraft. I have Java 7, LWJGL 2.8.5 (just updated but it didnt fix the issue) The debug screen is a feature which allows a player to view elements of the game, such as the coordinates and the biome youre in.
The Minecraft map is divided into XYZ coordinates. Each of the X, Y and Z values is used to indicate your position in the map.
Here is how the coordinate system works:
- X - Determines your position East/West in the map. A positive value increases your position to the East. A negative value increases your position to the West.
- Y - Determines your position up/down in the map. A positive value increases your position upward. A negative value increases your position downward.
- Z - Determines your position South/North in the map. A positive value increases your position to the South. A negative value increases your position to the North.
Coordinates can be written as either absolute or relative positions.
Absolute Coordinate
When a coordinate is written as a number, it is an absolute coordinate and refers to a specific position in the world.
For example, 119 76 237
is an absolute coordinate and can refer to only one specific location in your map.
Relative Coordinate
When a coordinate is written with a tilde ~
notation, it is a relative coordinate in the game.
For example, ~1 ~2 ~1
is a relative coordinate which refers to a position that is 1 block East, 2 blocks upward, and 1 block South of the current position in the map.
~ ~1 ~
which is one block above the command block. How to Find your Coordinates
Now you can quickly and easily find your coordinates in Minecraft Java Edition (PC/Mac), Pocket Edition, Windows 10 and Education Edition with the /tp command. Let's explore how.
1. Open the Chat Window
The easiest way to run a command in Minecraft is within the chat window. The game control to open the chat window depends on the version of Minecraft:
- For Java Edition (PC/Mac), press the T key to open the chat window.
- For Pocket Edition (PE), tap on the chat button at the top of the screen.
- For Windows 10 Edition, press the T key to open the chat window.
- For Education Edition, press the T key to open the chat window.
2. How to Find your Coordinates
You can easily find your current XYZ coordinates in Minecraft with the following /tp command:
Type the command in the chat window. As you are typing, you will see the command appear in the lower left corner of the game window. Press the Enter key to run the command.
Since we are using the /tp command to teleport ourselves to our current location, Minecraft will display our current coordinates in the lower left corner of the game window.
In this example, our current XYZ coordinates in the map are:
For simplicity, we are going to round our coordinates, even though the /tp command shows the coordinates with decimal places.
Congratulations, you just learned how to use the /tp command to find your coordinates in Minecraft!
How to Open the Debug Window to see your Coordinates
You can also view your XYZ coordinates in Minecraft Java Edition (PC/Mac) by opening the debug window.
To open the debug window, press the F3 key in Windows or fn + F3 key on the Mac.
This will bring up the debug screen where you can see your current XYZ coordinates in the game. In the picture above, we've circled where the coordinates will appear in the debug window.
In this example, our current XYZ coordinates in the map are:
How to Hide the Debug Window
When you are done viewing your coordinates, you can close the debug window in Minecraft Java Edition (PC/Mac). To close the debug window, press the F3 key in Windows or fn + F3 key on the Mac.
Your screen will go back to normal.
Congratulations, you just learned how to use the coordinate system in Minecraft!

Introduction: How to Install Mods in Minecraft
In this Instructable we will learn how to install mods. Mods open a whole new realm to Minecraft.
Enjoy! :)
Step 1: What Is a Mod?
A Mod, simply, is an 'addon' made for Minecraft that normally adds items into the game.
There are thousands of mods, some add cars, chocolate milk, coffee, or even space!
Basically, anything you can think of there is a mod for it, even Star Wars, which is very cool:
In this instructable, we will install a popular mod called 'MrCrayfish's Furniture Mod'
and 'Mo'Creatures mod'
MrCrayfish's Furniture Mod adds objects like: a stove, toaster, microwave, shower, couch and even a TV.
Mo'Creatures Mod adds animals like: turkeys, zebras, sharks, dolphins, and insects.
Installing Mods may ruin Minecraft, which is Highly unlikely. If so re-install Minecraft.
Continue at your own risk.
Note: All credit and images goes to the modders themselves. I am not responsible for any errors that might occur.
Step 2: Installing the Forge
To install a mod, you need to download Minecraft Forge.
Forge makes it possible for the mods to connect to Minecraft.

Step 2: Installing the Forge
To install a mod, you need to download Minecraft Forge.
Forge makes it possible for the mods to connect to Minecraft.
How To Turn On Hitboxes
To install Forge, click this link to their site: Minecraft Forge
Select on the side panel of the website the version of Minecraft you are using, otherwise the mods won't work.
For this tutorial, we will use 1.12.2 which is the latest version of Minecraft at this time.
Click the Recommended Windows Installer button for Windows, Or for Mac
the Installer button (it looks like a bin)
Now open the file and select the 'Install Client' than click OK.
You finished installing Forge!
Step 3: Download Your Mods
You can download any mod you like as long As it matches the Forge and Minecraft version you are using!
For this tutorial we will install MrCrayfish's Furniture Mod and Mo'Creatures Mod.
Click the links to the websites:
Custom Mob Spawner Mod (needed for Mo'Creatures to work)
Scroll down to find the download links, and click 1.12.2 on each website to download them.
Your browser might say they may be harmful and ask you if you want to keep them, if so click 'Keep'
Step 4: Installing Mods
Installing a Mod is very simple it is just a matter of copying and pasting.
But, first we will make a backup of your worlds just in case the mods ruin them.
To do this we will press the Windows key and R. Then enter this into the Run box:
%appdata%.minecraft
This will open the folder where Minecraft is.
On Mac copy and paste this into the path directory:
~/Library/Application Support/minecraft
Now copy and paste the 'saves' folder to the desktop, this is the backup. If your worlds get ruined, just delete the saves folder and copy the saves folder from the desktop to the Minecraft folder.
This has never happened to me yet in my years of using mods, but I do it as a precautionary measure :)
Now in the same Minecraft folder, make a new folder and name it 'mods' (lowercase)
Now drag and drop the 3 (three) mods you downloaded into this folder.
You finished installing your Mods!
Step 5: Run Minecraft
To run Minecraft with Mods, open you Minecraft Launcher,
If you have the old launcher, you should see 'Version' in the bottom left corner, click the box than scroll down to '1.12.2 Forge' It may have numbers next to it as well, but ignore those.

Postal 2: paradise lost download for mac. Have fun and enjoy your Mods!
Step 6: The End
When installing Mods, normally add them one by one, and test Minecraft to see if they work, because sometimes Minecraft will crash because it doesn't like the mod and you'll be fishing for the mod that keeps crashing the game.
If you want to install a mod that uses an older Minecraft version, you will need to install Forge for that version as well. And make sure to remove all the old mods from the mods folder because they only work with the newer version of Minecraft.
Thanks for reading this tutorial, I hope it helped :)
If I failed to mention something, feel free to comment ;)
Note: All credit goes to the modders and Forge.
I am not responsible for anything that might happen to your Minecraft. If something goes wrong please re-install Minecraft.
